Rachel and family tell us about the 10 year wedding anniversary dress up fun they had recently…

What did you do?

I’d been looking at my wedding dress in my bedroom for some weeks, as we were meant to be moving house (we are in the process of buying a new house) so we have emptied our loft, and are sorting through its contents. I thought to myself, as it’s our 10 year anniversary I’m going to try my dress on! Our youngest two daughters didn’t get to share our special day, so I thought it would be really special for them.

When I came downstairs in my wedding dress Candice and Faye came over to me and give me a big cuddle and Candice said “you look like a princess!” The girls loved the dress!

I asked the girls whether they wanted to get dressed up too. They said “yes  yes!”. So we got all the dresses out,  and let them choose which ones they wanted to wear. We had a great time wearing them around the house, and in the garden. My husband put on a suit that he wore for a wedding we attended two years ago. The girls danced and spun round in the garden in their dresses. We got some lovely pictures.

Our second child, Faye loved getting dressed up in her big sister’s (Jess) bridesmaid dress that Jess wore 6 years ago.

Our eldest Daughter wore a bridesmaid dress that I wore for one of my best friend’s wedding two years ago. Jess then wanted to try on my wedding dress, she looked absolutely stunning in it.

Our youngest daughter, Candice picked out a dress that Jess wore for her own christening 7 years ago. Candice, of course wanted to do a show on the trampoline in the dress, which was amazing!

We then asked the girls if they wanted to watch our wedding video, which they did. Myself and my husband have only ever watched it once before! Jess was emotional, and shed a few happy tears! Faye and Candice were asking lots of questions about the day, and laughing at Dougie (my husbands) speech.
It was lovely to look back at the day and chat to our 3 girls about it.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

My name is Rachel Field. I’m 40! Just turned 40 in lockdown in May!
We have 3 children Jess aged 15, Faye aged 9, and Candice aged 3.

How has the time indoors been for you?

During the lockdown we have done lots of activities, such as; craft, baking, dancing, going on bike rides, and of course, doing school/nursery activities with our girls. We have put a positive spin on the fact we are in isolation. I’ve loved being able to spend more time with my husband and children. At times, being in isolation can be challenging, but we have really tried to keep spirits up in The Field Household, and give our children lots of good memories they can cherish for a lifetime.
