We need to teach our kids the importance of looking after the world from a young age.  Louise, from Leicester, sent in this great idea to spark the conversation, lets read on…

What did you do?

Beach clean up tuff tray.

I used dyed rice (with paint), stones and a variety of toys to create this tray.

To dye rice add some poster paint in a sandwich bag with dry rice and mix until covered. Spread onto a tray and leave to dry (overnight is best).

Worked well and was a quick set up after prepping rice and gathering toys. Took a minute to set up once prepared.

Adapt this for younger kids by using bigger toys and removing the “rubbish” which could be a hazard for babies. Rice play is great for sensory.

Do you have any other projects planned?

A DIY toy bug hotel.

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
