Karina, from Truro, Cornwall, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

  1. Take a piece of white card which will fit your frame.
  2. Cut a piece of tin foil the size of your card.
  3. Cut various colours of tissue paper and place them on top of the foil
  4. You will then need to drip water over the top of the tissue paper using a small paint brush and ensure all tissue paper is wet (please ensure you do
this over a non stick surface as the dye from the tissue paper will stain
    most surfaces!)
  5. Once the tissue paper is wet and stuck to the foil press it over the piece of
card which will create a tie dye print.
  6. Once dry you can add the finishing touches which for us was little scrabble tiles to stick on each print.

The beauty of this is that you can do anything you want with your children. I was originally going to do handprints but the frames I bought were too small so I used a different idea. This is what my boys will be giving their dad for fathers day but you can adapt for all different gifts.

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

My name is Karina and I am mum to 2 gorgeous boys aged 8 and 4. We live in Truro, Cornwall which is a beautiful part of the country with plenty of beaches to burn off energy.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

It’s been a tough journey so far through lockdown trying to homeschool two children with different needs because of their ages as well as work. Having said that we have also had lots of fun and discovered lots of local places nearby which has been great fun for the children to explore.
