HWK member Holly shares her tips on how to have your very own camping holiday without leaving the house…

Brief background about you and your family:
My name is Holly and I have 2 children: Ethan (8) and Jensen (4)

What did you do?

I got the kids involved in creating their very own holiday. I let their imaginations run wild. My kids love the beach so a sea view was top priority! We used the rug as a beach and the carpet as the sea and they went for a spot of fishing. They even had their own little campfire which they made out of sticks and some orange fabric – perfect for toasting marshmallows.

We were lucky the weather was good so they worked up an appetite in the pool before their evening meal at the onsite restaurant and then dancing the night away and party games at the on-site entertainment complex.

The children had so much fun creating this holiday and so did I. It gave the sense of escaping everyday life and letting their imagination run wild. It was lovely to see their excitement.

If you were to do it again, what would make it better?

I will definitely do this again for them only next time I will plan it a bit better and go for a tropical theme.

How are you finding being housebound with kids so far?

Being housebound has definitely had its challenges and come with its fair share of ups and downs. But overall I think as a family we needed this time, to hit the reset button on life slow down and realise what really matters in life. Oh, and wine helps!

Any tips to help people when they are housebound with kids?

My tip for being housebound with kids is to make time for yourself even if it’s just a  bath and a pamper evening, it’s important to have that escapism. Try and enjoy this time as before long the world will restart again and when it does you want to have some memories of a time when you really did have to make something out of nothing. Happy memories will last a lifetime not just for yourself but for your children.

What do you like about the Housebound With Kids community?

I love the Housebound With Kids community as there are always great ideas, tips and things to do with the kids.
