Saloni, from Mumbai, India, sent in this great oobleck play idea where her children tried to catch stars. Let’s take a look…

What did you do?

I set up some Oobleck Play for my children.
We have been reading this book – “How to catch a star” by Oliver Jeffers for a few days & it has become the current favorite. So today I thought of making a play tray of this book “How to catch a Star?”
Oobleck is one of the sensory play which my son loves getting messy with.
For my little one this was the first encounter with Oobleck Messy play & must say he just loveddd it..!! He even tried tasting it but its ok as it was taste safe.

How to make Oobleck:

The best part of this activity is that we also narrated the story while playing & also this set up was the perfect for both my son’s who are 4 yrs & 17 months. They had a great time playing together. So good for the sibling bonding too & this was also a very good fine motor activity for them .

Do you have any tips for other parents?

These are the crucial times for kids when they have no where to go, so the best things to do with them at home is to try keeping them engaged in more sensory plays which is best for calming the minds & also plan DIY activities in which they can learn in a play method.

What are your family’s favourite board game(s)/card game(s)?

As a family we love playing Solar System Snap cards with kids & also UNO, Sequence & many more games with kids in which gross motor skills are developed.

What are your children’s favourite books?

My elder one loves “Once there was a boy” series by Oliver Jeffers & loves books about Solar System & younger one loves the very Hungry Caterpillar Book by Eric Carle.
