Katherine, from Essex, UK, sent in this great colour mixing play idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What you need:
* A deep tray
* Shaving foam
* Various colour paints
* Tools for mixing i.e paint brushes.

I put the shaving foam in the deep tray and some blobs of paint on top. I gave my son the tools to mix with and away he went.

He loved mixing the colours to make new ones. We described the textures, colours, smells and spoke about where we may see the colours. It was a tad messy so maybe a bowl close by to wash hands in!!

Do you have any other projects planned?

I need to work on more colour mixing with him.

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

How are you finding being housebound so far?

It’s a challenging time at current. But just go with the flow. Do what they want to do as they get more out of it.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

I only aim to do one activity a day to engage them and then I don’t feel so stressed! But if you want a duvet day and films, go for it! Sometimes they are the best!
