Florence, from Salisbury, UK, shares this great idea, edible paints!

What did you do?

This is a really quick and easy to set up, sensory play activity that is suitable for children from the ages of 6 months. Simply mix together any type of yoghurt (here I’m using plain natural yoghurt) with a little food colouring and then put it into a tray/bowl of your choice, for your little ones to explore.

This activity is wonderfully versatile and you could introduce objects such as measuring cups, pastry brushes & spoons for your children to try some mark making, or you could set this out as delicious & colourful snack for your toddler that they could dip fruit into.

Do you have any other projects planned?

Taste safe baby play dough
Jelly/chia seed messy play
Bookish sensory play

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

My name is Florence, I’m a former Nanny and first time mum to Primrose who’s 6 months old. We live in the UK and love all things rainbow coloured & are big fans of messy, sensory play!

How are you finding being housebound so far?

Although we’ve missed seeing our loved ones and attending our baby groups, we’ve been enjoying the extra time spent together as a family so we can’t complain!

Has this website and community helped you?

I think this website offers a fantastic platform for all of us needing a little inspiration about ways to keep our children occupied. I love the variation of activities listed here and there is something suitable for children of all ages.
