Becky, from Scarborough, sent in details of this early years maths activity. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

This is a activity that can be completed by all ages, my own children are 1, 4 & 10. They all enjoyed different elements of this activity.

The things you will need-
⭐Disposable gloves
⭐Number cards, can be wrote on paper or printed and laminated like ours.
⭐ additions things to add to your gloves for sensory benefit such as glitter, paint, pasta etc.
⭐ a container and counters, anything you have laying around such as buttons, pebbles, sticks ect.

The main focus was to introduce addition to my 4 year old. She gained lots of skills.

The 1 year and 10 year old both enjoyed the sensory aspect of the gloves my 10 year old said “these are the best squishys ever”

Plus-
The activity was easy to set up and was easy to involve all children of mixed ages.

Negative-
I froze some gloves the night before with various leaves and flowers, the gilrs didnt habe much interest in them and they wasnt needed for the activity to work well.

Do you have any other projects planned?

Our next project is to encourage letter and number formation by mark making in sand.

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

My name is becky, I have 4 girls aged 1, 4, 10, 12. We live in a town in the north of the uk called Scarborough.

I have worked in early years for the last 8 years. I am passionate about early education and providing help to as many families as possible.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

It has definitely had challenges but on the whole, for a busy working family it has been lovely to have some quality family time.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Take it day by day, try to stick to some routine in the mornings and have fun in the afternoon.
