Lois, from Manchester, England, had fun making fairy wands. Let’s take a look…

What did you do?

We collected bamboo sticks from the garden (Although any sticks would do just fine!) and I drew stars onto cardboard.
For older children I would let them draw and cut out the shapes themselves.
We then used a glue gun to stick them onto the sticks and painted them with our fingers.

It was a fun and engaging activity following the children’s interests and using natural resources that are easily accessible.
Sticking the stars onto the sticks was the trickiest part although it was better using hot glue as they have lasted many hours of play.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

I have loved spending more time with my daughter as i have been back at work since she was 5 months old so its been really nice to have extra time together! Although, gotta admit, a bit stressful.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Set up purposeful activities to keep them engaged, and try and stay calm!
Try to make the most of this extra time we have.

Has this website and community helped you?

I think it is very useful for parents!
