Beth, from Derbyshire, UK,sent in this idea… sometimes the simplest of ideas are the best ones! Lets read on…

What did you do?

Make sure you and your little one both have lots of paper, you will need it! Each of you needs to draw a scribble on the paper. Then, swap papers and turn each other’s scribble into a picture! This is great for creativity, speech and language development, pencil control and for some quality time together! This idea came from my lovely Mum who does loads of brilliant activities with my little ones.

We started off sharing one pen and doing one picture at a time but it worked better doing one each and using 2 different coloured pens so we could see who had done each part of the drawing.

Do you have any other projects planned?

I’ve got lots of water play ideas to keep the little ones cool in this hot weather!

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

I’m Beth. I have 2 children. Bobby is 4 and Alice will be 2 in September. I am a primary school teacher and I love sharing ideas for learning through play on my instagram account @playwithb_and_a

How are you finding being housebound so far?

It wasn’t easy at the start, especially with working from home teaching my class, but I’ve loved having extra time with my babies.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

It’s okay to have days where you don’t do much learning and stick the TV on! It’s all about balance and kids need down time as much as we do. Don’t feel guilty!

Has this website and community helped you?

I think it’s fantastic! There are so many brilliant ideas and the option to search by age and activity is so useful! I’ve used it loads.
