Leanne, from Manchester, shows us the gin shelf that her husband made for the house. Let’s see how it was made…

Things you will need…

  • A couple of planks of wood
  • Paint
  • Lights

Instructions:

  1. He started off making a simple frame from the wood and added the central pieces just to break it up a bit.
  2. We jigsawed slots out of one of the smaller pieces of wood to slide the glasses onto for extra security, having two boys at home aged 10 years old and 5 months old we had to make sure it was secure.
  3. It took 3 coats of cream gloss to make sure the wood was fully coated.
  4. 4 brackets were screwed on to give extra support on the wall.
  5. A few decorations were added and the led strip lights glued around the edge.

We’ve started doing a bit more DIY and homemaking while being off with the kids I’m on maternity and my husband’s place has closed due to covid-19 so we are trying to do fun things each day as well as conquering the schoolwork, we just take each day as it comes and just go with the flow.

For us being housebound has made a fantastic difference with the bond with my 2 boys, my eldest is autistic and couldn’t really take to the youngest when he was born but the last couple of weeks have massively improved the situation. He acknowledges him now and will try and comfort him when he gets a bit upset and whingy as all babies do, so it’s been a blessing for me.

Have you got anything else on the horizon?

Our next big DIY plan is the front garden which we have started already by laying some paving slabs down to create a path ready for the new part of the garden. Hopefully. it will be finished this year.

Any last thoughts?

Keep up the fantastic DIY ideas they are all brilliant
