Rebecca, from Norfolk, sent in this great Harry Potter themed birthday idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

My daughter’s themed 8th birthday. We had breakfast at Hogwarts with the characters with the soundtrack music in the background. We visited Ollivanders and selected our wands and chose our Patronus. The sorting hat chose our house and we played school games all afternoon and gained points for our house.

White tops and a simple house coloured tie worked really well for costumes. Dobby sticking out the downstairs cupboard made the girls laugh whoever they walked past.

Do you have any other projects planned?

It is my youngest daughter’s birthday next and we are having a flight to a beach party!

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

Hi I’m Rebecca, a mummy to two beautiful, confident young girls. They are 6 and 8 and love arts, crafts, adventures and role play. By day I devote my time to enhancing their lives and by night I’m a midwife. My husband and the girls daddy is of great support to us all and goes along with our madness and creativity!

How are you finding being housebound so far?

Lockdown to some is intense, hard work and stressful. To me it is precious time that I will never get back, time with my girls to learn about how they learn, watch them grow and create lifelong memories.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Soak it all up. Literally absorb it all and be thankful. Soon they will be living away and you’ll have one call from them a day and that’s if you’re lucky!

Has being part of our community helped you?

Being housebound with kids consolidates everything. Gives everyone ideas, reassures everyone that they are doing a good job and it is a lifeline when you’re feeling alone.
