One thing that Lockdown has really shown us is the impact our family and friends really have in our lives. Hayley is 29 from Kent and recently she made a special night to show her appreciation for her oldest son Bradley 11 for some quality time. Let’s see how their night went…

Describe the activity:

As a single parent, I made this simple special date night for my son to thank him for being extra helpful during lockdown with helping take care of his little brother and to show him my appreciation towards him as well as cheering him up.

I ironed and used an old bed sheet as a table cloth, as well as his old school uniform.

The value of the meal and table accessories came to £15 pounds in total. I used cheap Aldi ingredients to make my own pakoras, onion bhajis with added chopped, salad, and herbs.

I would like to do this more often perhaps once a month or so to just have the one and one break time needed with my eldest child, youngest being 4.I would maybe add fairy lights and practice my napkin folding origami skills to create different table designs.
