Here we show you how to make your own Christmas advent calendar. We also share some inspiration as to what you can write inside each envelope.

Thanks to Demi, who lives in Greece, for sending in this great homemade Christmas advent calendar idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

DIY Christmas Advent Calendar.

How to:
• Cut whatever wrapping paper you’ve got and make little envelop/pockets-gluing the sides and leaving the top part open.
• Use plain white stickers or even a marker to write the dates.
• String or ribbon (whatever you’ve got) cut in different lengths and glue your envelopes on them however you like.
•Use a pine branch or any other branch you like (I got mine from a local florist) and tie the strings/ribbons on the branch.
• Then write on small pieces of paper whatever you’d like for each day.

What I liked most about this activity is that it’s a great and fun way to put different kinds of activities that we can do as a family. For us, there is pizza night, movie night, baking cookies, choosing a place to go for dinner, or an outdoor activity of his choice…..there are so many things!

Do you have any tips for other parents?

My only tip for people who are housebound with kids is to make a family schedule where everyone can participate in doing something together or even moments when everyone can have their own free time.

Spending time at home with my kiddo during Christmas break and spring break and now added to list, lockdowns, it really helped to have some kind of structure and above anything else, quality time.

What are your family’s favourite board game(s)/card game(s)?

Favorite games: Battle Ship
