As Luminita, from the UK, was unable to travel to the Moon at the moment, she did the next best thing.. brought the moon sand home! Let’s look closer…

What did you do?

I used a Tuff Tray for this activity.

Moon sand is very easy to make and has a very soft texture, perfect for lots of fun. You need only  1 cup of vegetable oil (baby oil works too), 8 cups of cornstarch and few drops of food colouring. I used a small cup and I made the mixture of oil and cornstarch separate for each colour, but you can make a bigger amount and then separate to add different colour.

Please be aware that flour is a raw ingredient and can contain bacteria. In order to kill it, place the flour on baking paper and bake it for 5 minutes at 175 Celsius degree.

What’s your next project idea?

I am planning another messy play for my little.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

My name is Luminita and I moved to England in 2010. I have a little boy called Patrick, he will be 3 in June and I love him with all my heart.

How are you finding being housebound with kids so far?

For me is not a huge difference as Patrick wouldn’t go to nursery from March anymore, as I want to spend the summer with him.

Any tips to help people when they are housebound with kids?

I think, for the parents whose children are going full time to nursery or school, it is a lifetime opportunity. I will always treasure all the moments I am spending with my little one.

How has it helped you (if at all)?

Myself, I love sharing ideas with other parents and this is an amazing way of doing it.
