What did you need to do this activity?

Large space, clean dry paddling pool, blankets, pillows, snack trays or tables, Snacks and a film.

Do you have any other ideas?

Jelly Bath in the pool, Handprint painting to make flowers in a flowerpot, rock painting, planting potatoes and veg in our veg plot, den building, making bird feeders in yogurt pots and we are doing a VE Day picnic in the garden. We have also done buckets of water in the garden and paintbrushes so the kids can make marks on the garage and on the floor. Theo (the youngest) thinks he’s been painting the garage.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

I am a neonatal and children’s nurse with 2 children, Lexi age 10 and Theo will be 3 on 2nd May. We are from a small village in Lancashire.

How are you finding being housebound with kids?

I am still working part-time as a key worker, and my partner has been furloughed. We are enjoying having the kids at home and I enjoy making up new activities each day. Both of my children’s birthdays are during this period, so we have made fun activities for those too. We have afternoon tea and have created a bubble bath in the garden in the paddling pool.

We will be making a campfire in the garden on Saturday for Theo’s birthday and cooking sausages and toasting marshmallows. In the morning Lexi does school work and Theo does pencil skills. Then in the afternoon we do an activity (or I at one up with for their dad to do whilst I’m at work).

Do you have any tips for others in the community?

Have a routine. It’s so hard to stick to any form of routine at the moment but we have tried to stick to; school work in the morning then activities in the afternoon. Also, try and make every day different. Activities can be repeated on different weeks.

Any last comments?

I’ve enjoyed sharing ideas and using ideas. Sometimes I think I’ve run out of new ideas to do with them so I scroll down the thread and end up gaining lots of new ideas.
