Becky, from North Lincolnshire, UK, shows us her upcycling project…

What did you do?

I had seen so many lovely table and chairs sets that I would of loved to buy for my little boy, bit the price tag was out of my range. So I decided to give upscaling a go myself. I bought an Ikea set feom a lady on Facebook for £10 to start off my project. I gave all of the wooden parts a light sand before using a £7 tin of primer and applied two coats and then used some leftover emulsion paint from my little ones bedroom and also gave this two coats . To finish off my design I bought some peter rabbit vynils from a lady on Facebook and the decals from ebay. These were much easier to apply than I originally thought. The chairs cushions were many by another lady from Facebook who also made a teepee matress and cushions for me. Roughly cost me £30 all together! And I made it myself!!!

Now I use to work as a painter and decorator, and could masking tape an edge perfectly, but masking taking a table and chairs in tall the Knucks and crannies was a challenge, but we’ll worth doing. I had to use a very thin paintbrush to paint around the screws to ensure they stayed there lovely silver colour.

Do you have any other projects planned?

I have just made a were going on a bear hunt video and book with my little boy that was my next project and now starting on a were going on a bear hunt story sack.

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

My name is Becky. I’m 28 and I’m from a little village called Alkborough in North Lincolnshire England UK . I have 1 little boy who is 22 months old. I also work in a day nursery!

How are you finding being housebound so far?

For the majority of the time I am loving it, I am seeing him grown and develop and learn new things do rapidly, that I would have missed had he have been at nursery. I feel so proud that I have been able to teach him what he has learnt and I will cherish this time with him forever! But he is nearly two so the tantrums can be challenging, but distraction usually helps a lot!

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Go out for walks a lot, enjoy all the small things and don’t worry about anything but having fun.
