Katie, from Sheffield, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

Create the sound of rain inside your home by using a few simple items.
Needed:-

  • Nails
  • Hammer
  • Dry pasta/rice or other dry beans
  • Plastic or card tube (Not kitchen or toilet roll tube as too thin)
  • Tissue paper, glue etc for decorating

Hammer nails into the tube leaving an couple of inch between them. I did the tough part then let my daughter hammer them once they were through the tube and easier. Fill with dried produce. Put the lid on and decorate then have fun listening to the rain.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much like water it actually sounds. My daughter kept using it and I would look round for where the water was spilling.
