Stacey, from South Wales in the UK, made this fantastic rainbow-themed afternoon tea with her kids. Who doesn’t love a rainbow?! Let’s see what she did…

Things you will need:

  • White balloons
  • Coloured 12 x 12 scrapbook cardstock for the paper chains
  • String to tie balloons together
  • Sellotape
  • Blue tac to attach everything to wall
  • Pizza2 x cheese and tomato pizzas
  • Sliced mozzarella
  • Tomatoes
  • Orange pepper
  • Pineapple chunks
  • Tin of sweetcorn
  • Broccoli (parboiled)
  • Sliced mushrooms
  • Red onion
  • Grated mature cheddar to sprinkle over the top

Fruit platter consists of:

  • raspberries
  • strawberries
  • tin of mandarins
  • pineapple chunks
  • green grapes
  • kiwi slices
  • blueberries.

Traffic light jellies:

  • Hartley’s strawberry, orange and lime flavour jelly cubes.

The rainbow cake was the first attempt at any kind of cake. I was quite impressed by how it turned out (I’ve included a recipe in the photos of what I used. I used Dr.Oetkers food gels in various colours, about half a tube each). My daughter helped with the buttercream icing.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

My name is Stacey. I am mum to 3 children- Megan, 16, Joshua, 9, and Harry 6. I am from South Wales, UK. I am very craft minded and I absolutely love anything creative from scrapbooking to rock painting, dolls house making to quilling.. you name it and I will give it a try!

How are you finding being housebound so far?

I am enjoying being housebound so far. I have many ideas to do with the kids (thanks to websites like this!) and it’s lovely to just spend time with them.

We have already made a cardboard box slide for the stairs, made ourselves into glow stick people, and made a giant great barrier reef picture on the back of a roll of wallpaper.

We have enjoyed doing the #Clapforcarers on a Thursday at 8pm and we do 3 weekly live family quizzes on YouTube.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

My tip while in lockdown with kids is to remember to look after yourselves. I go for a long soak in the tub with a good book and a cup of tea to relax!

I love the Housebound with Kids website as it is clear and easy to navigate and I will definitely be using it to add to my ever-growing list of ideas!
