Tara, from Australia, shares her beautiful craft that can be used as a tool to aid mindfulness and help focus your attention to breath… how fantastic!

What did you do?

This activity was a guide to use in the future for a visual of deep breathing (the child runs their fingers along the colour breathe in one colour, breathe out the next colour).

We went for a walk and picked up some leaves from our walk. I did a simple invitation to create art tray by painting the leaves a certain colour each day. Once the leaves were dried, I glued onto a piece of card and placed books on top to dry. Once dried place into photo frame.
Some learning and play ideas are hidden within this activity such as:⠀⠀
💙fine motor⠀💙creativity 💙problem solving 💙colours 💙language development 💙vocabulary & many more⠀ ⠀

The painting of the leaves took awhile and if not spread out, your child may lose interest (hence why I took the painting over a few days)
Preplan by placing the leaves in the place you want (incase leaves donot fit/match)

Do you have any other projects planned?

We are adding more nature play into our day and thinking of “looking through the window “ using our nature finds.

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

Hi I am Tara. I am a SAHM mum to my gorgeous ginger ninja (who is 2). We live in Australia. Prior to being a SAHM, I am a primary teacher. I love owls, photography and trees.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

It felt surreal-being a SAHM we spend majority of our days at home, however, was strange as we couldn’t go to the library or playgroups. Little man was extremely upset so I did my best to help him.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Virtual play dates-we used FaceTime to call our mates and played (was his highlight).
Here in Australia, we were lucky enough to go for a walk (exercise). Try to utilise this if you can.
Take it slow and write down or take photos of your day amd make into a collage.
