Here is a fun and easy science experiment to do at home. This simple color changing flowers STEM activity is great for children of all ages.

Thanks to Olena, from New Jersey, who sent in this great STEM experiment. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

We made color changing flowers. What a fun science experiment! I used some of the white flowers my son collected at the farm the other day. To start, I trimmed down the stems of the flower so they fit in our cups. I laid the flowers on the table and explained all the steps to Jon.

We added water to each cup and I let Jon put drops of food coloring in the water and stir. We saw the first change of color after couple of hours. It was really neat to watch the flowers change their color!

If you are looking for a fun science activity to try this summer/fall- you should definitely give this one a go!

The best part about this activity is to actually observe how each flower slowly changed its color!

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Any tips… I would like to say, to all Mammas out there-enjoy every bit of your time with the little ones! Take deep breath, give them hugs & kisses and know this is one of the best times! I know it’s easier said then done…. Despite the stress, sleepless nights, messy home, etc, know, every day you and your child(children) learn something new, bond and create memories for life
