Megan, from Mold, Flintshire, created this lovely Teepee den for her daughter, Sasha. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

I made a teepee den out of 4 broom handles that cost £2.00 each, a small set of fairy lights that cost £1.00 and an old duvet cover. After drilling a hole in each broom handle approx 10 inches from the top, I threaded a shoelace through them all to keep in place then bound them together with twine. I started by using a hot glue gun to attach a piece of fabric to the back (roughly cut to shape). I repeated this on the two sides but leaving excess fabric for the doors. I sewn a small bit of ribbon at the top of the doorway to close the gap and added the fairy lights on the top.

It required no sewing apart from adding the ribbon.
It was cost effective but quite time consuming.
I plan on having it for many years to come!!

Do you have any other projects planned?

I am currently turning a plain pair of dungarees into a customised pair for my daughter.

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

My name is Megan and I’m from Mold, North Wales. I have one daughter, Sasha, who turns 8 in July. We live with our husband/daddy, Dan, and our chihuahua Bella.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

After initially emotionally struggling with the reality of the pandemic, both myself and husband still working and changing shift patterns to accommodate no childcare, I began to enjoy quality time with my closest family. I have used the time to be productive and included my daughter in all jobs and tasks.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

My tip would be to do what’s best for your family and what makes you happy and safe.

Has being part of our community helped you?

I love it!! It is a much needed support network for many many parents.
