Charlotte, from England, sent in this fun colour fizz activity for children of all ages!

What did you do?

You need:
-Bicarbonate of Soda
-Food colouring
-White Vinegar
-Pipettes

Apply a layer of bicarbonate of soda on a tray and add drops of food colouring.
Using the pipette, squeeze some white vinegar onto the colouring and watch them fizz!

This activity worked really well and kept the attention of the children for ages. They wanted to do it over and over again!

Do you have any other projects planned?

I’m constantly doing new and exciting activities with my son and the children I look after. We have weekly themes which I base our activities on.

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

I am Charlotte and we are from Reading, England.
I have worked in childcare for just over 10 years and have my own little boy who is 3 next month!
I love doing arts and crafts and making / taking part in activities with the children.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

I’ve actually enjoyed being housebound with the children because we’ve got to spend so much more time together! It’s been lovely! However, I am looking forward to going back to normal one day!

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Just try not to stress.
It’s easier said than done, I know, but we get ourselves so worked up about the smallest of things and in times like these we need to try not to.
If an activity doesn’t go the way you had planned, don’t worry about it. Let the children take the lead and do the activity how they like. It saves tantrums but also is good for them to make their own decisions and explore in their own way.

Has this website and community helped you?

It’s fab for ideas for parents! In times like these it’s so important (more than usual) to help eachother out and this website has lovely ideas for you to all do in your own homes.
