Jade, from Australia, shows us her very hungry caterpillar finger painting patterns craft. Lets take a look…

What did you do?

Teach your child patterns.
1. Read the very hungry caterpillar
2. Set up five paint pots of non-toxic paint (less for beginners, more for advanced)
3. Ask your child to dip their finger in the paint and make a dot on the paper
4. Repeat until all colours are done in a line
5. Discuss the patterns and guide them to repeat it to your desired caterpillar length
6. Draw eyes, smile, ears and little legs

Too few paints and it was too simple, but too many and it was too complex

Do you have any other projects planned?

How are you finding being housebound so far?

I’m keen to get out and about again properly, that’s for sure.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Have a routine, that way the day doesn’t feel like it’s going forever
