Nim, from the UK, sent in this great adventure picture idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

We went for a walk in the woods and took 2 ziplock bags we collected leaves, twigs, flowers, acorns and pinecones. When we got home I laid them out onto grease proof paper and put another sheet on top then put heavy books on top to press and dry them out (the longer you leave them the flatter they will become) we then made a collage sticking them onto a canvas(card would work also) with PVA glue we started with the biggest first and layered the smaller ones on top. We then covered everything in a layer of PVA glue to persevere all the leaves. Lastly we glued on the pinecones and acorns.

It was a great way to keep my 6year old daughter entertained on a walk we managed 2 hours without her moaning she was bored and it was a lovely mummy and daughter craft in the end it gave us 2 days of entertainment.

Do you have any other projects planned?

Hopefully building a fairy house using thing we find on our next walk.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Breathe. It’s hard being a parent on a normal day but at the moment it’s even harder especially trying to keep them entertained taking a few deep breaths and remember to take time for yourself even if it’s just 15 mins to have a coffee and play on your phone can do you a world of good x

What are your family’s favourite board game(s)/card game(s)?

We love playing the Pokémon card game we’ve just started teaching our daughter she adores it and it’s suitable for as many players as you want x

What are your children’s favourite books?

That’s a tough one my daughter loves books she has well over 100 she loves the Gruffalo (and the others from the same author) and the Supertato book series at the moment.

What toys would you recommend to other parents?

Building blocks, knex and Lego.

Has this website and community helped you?

I love how supportive everyone is, the great ideas for things to do and it makes me feel better to know that I’m not alone in the things I have had to deal with as a parent x
