Raja’s Mum from Cambridgeshire, supports her son’s baking talent. Let’s take a look…

What did you do?

My 14 yr old was an avid artist until he had to drop art as a subject due to a wrist injury. Lockdown got him thinking about how to make the most of his talent.

One day he decided that he will be baking his grandmother a cake for her birthday. We bought the ingredients and he spent the day in the kitchen to produce an amazing cake. It’s been one month since he started baking and people have told him to make an Instagram account. As parents we were very reluctant to allow him social media but decided to make him an account and monitor it ourselves.

Its the best thing we did. If your child has a talent support and encourages them. It does wonders for their self-esteem and confidence!

He is the only Asian male baker in our city and every small business is going out of their way to help him. It takes time but he’s doing so well and so happy. Most of all he’s learnt so many skills!

It was all trial and error. What works for one baker may not for another. We started off using high branded ingredients and have now realised that there are supermarket own brands which give the exact same result in half the price!

Do you have any other projects planned?
