Liz from Snape Wood shows us this flower smash activity. Let’s take a better look at it…

What did you do?

Method:

  1. Place petals on one half of a cotton sheet.
  2. Fold other half over the top so that you cover the petals.
  3. Use a mallet/ stick to hit the cotton sheet until the colour of the petals transfers through.
  4. Unfold cotton sheet and shake off the petal to create a floral print. You can use leaves to add different colours to your picture.
  5. Add a nature frame by tying 4 sticks together.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Go out for short walks together as a family and explore places you’ve never been before that are close to home.

What is next?

I’ve been very busy setting up a website which has challenged me as I’m not very technical but it’s been fun to learn something new.

How are you coping in lockdown?

I’ve recently been furloughed until the end of July which is unsettling but it give me an opportunity to explore the outdoors more.
