Aimee, from Weston Super Mare and living in Hong Kong, sent in this great phonics fun box idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

This phonics box is so much fun. It’s bright and attractive to take the interest of young learners.

All you need is a box, card, paper, lolly sticks, pens, glue, tape and scissors.
I covered the box in bright card and used the scissors to make 26 holes in the top of the box. I labelled each hole with capital letters. I then drew pictures to represent each sound the letters made and stuck them on sticks. I also wrote the lower case letter on 26 other sticks.

The child is able to either match the picture sticks to their correct sound. Or they can match the upper and lowercase letters.

My daughter is just two and enjoys playing with this box and practicing her sounds.

This activity is a great way to make phonics fun! If you have older children, why not ask them to help you draw and colour the pictures.
